Massachusetts recently became one of the most dangerous states in our nation for pregnant mothers and preborn children.
With legislation passed allowing intentional feticide up to birth, the Bay State joined nine others in the union (Alaska, Colorado, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon, Vermont, as well as the District of Columbia) in failing to protect even fully developed children in the womb from the horror of induced abortion.
Previously, Massachusetts had allowed abortion for any reason up to 24 weeks gestation but allowed it beyond that point of pregnancy for the exceptions of the life of the mother, or to protect the physical or mental health of the mother, or for fetal anomaly (essentially allowing it for any reason). However, under the new and deceptively titled “An Act Prioritizing Patient Access to Care,” children can be aborted even seconds before delivery for any reason, with the sign off of just one physician.
Dr. Christina Francis, AAPLOG’s CEO and board-certified OB/GYN, has led the medical community in speaking out about this barbaric and medically unnecessary policy change.
In an interview with Fox News Digital, she explained how the change could lead to delivery-room induced abortions: “There’s nothing in this law that says that at 39 weeks and five days, a woman could not have an abortion. These procedures are risky for the mom. They lead to a significant risk of complications.”
In fact, if a woman truly is facing critical conditions later in her pregnancy that require her to no longer be pregnant, Francis dispelled the notion that intentional feticide would be the answer.
“If a woman’s life is in danger, if she’s facing a pregnancy complication beyond 24 weeks, we simply deliver her. And in fact, delivery is much more expedient than a later-in-pregnancy abortion procedure…I’ve had to do deliveries at 24, 25, 26 weeks when mom is facing a complication. I can do an emergency c-section, if that’s what’s needed, and have that baby out in under five minutes. It’s very quick. We can take care of mom; we can take care of baby. A later in pregnancy abortion procedure is a multi-day procedure so this is not being done when a woman is truly facing a life-threatening emergency.”
Francis continued, “The science is very clear, as early as 12 weeks of pregnancy, we know that babies feel pain, and we’re talking here about dismemberment abortion procedures, where these babies are torn limb from limb, sometimes while they’re alive, sometimes after they have had a heart attack induced by an injection directly into their heart.”
