AAPLOG Action leaders attended the Family Policy Allianceās Social Conservative Policy Conference (SoConCon) in Indianapolis, Indiana last week. Our CEO, Dr. Christina Francis, and AAPLOG’s Director of Advocacy and Policy, Rebecca Weaver, connected with values-aligned national and state political leaders, organizers, and more to discuss AAPLOG and AAPLOG Actionās work and to highlight the importance of medical voices in advancing life-affirming policies across the country.
On Thursday, July 24, Dr. Francis was interviewed live for Family Research Councilās show “Washington Watchā with Tony Perkins, where she discussed the dangers of the abortion drug mifepristone. āIn this state, we passed a good law that protects women and children from the harms of abortion,ā Dr. Francis said. āAnd yet, in my practice as an OB hospitalist, our group still sees women coming into our emergency room with severe complications related to this drug because theyāre able to obtain them online.ā

On Thursday, July 24, Dr. Francis, Rebecca, and communications consultant Kate Connolly (who you might recognize as our amazing media trainer) spoke on a breakout panel titled āThe Importance of Highlighting Medical Voices to Advance Life-Affirming Policies.ā During this talk, our team emphasized the importance of including the voices of life-affirming physicians like you in public discourse and policy discussions.
