CMDA Honors Drs. Donna and Mark Harrison

AAPLOG was honored to participate in the Christian Medical & Dental Associations’ (CMDA) National Convention in Colorado. As a silver sponsor, we were grateful for the opportunity to connect with CMDA members and to continue strengthening our partnership with our friends at CMDA, working together to ensure that life-affirming healthcare extends across all areas of medicine. Their partnership over the years has been crucial as we collaborate in this shared mission of restoring life-affirming care throughout the medical profession, and also led to the formation of the Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine

In addition to attending as a sponsor, we were especially honored to celebrate AAPLOG CEO Emerita Dr. Donna Harrison and her husband, Dr. Mark Harrison, who were recognized as Educators of the Year.

Donna Harrison said in her remarks, in part,

“(Mark and I) interviewed for medical school together in the fall of 1981 and were married in 1982. While on our honeymoon we were accepted at the University of Michigan medical school, one of the most demanding medical schools in the world.  We started in Aug. of 1982 in didactics and sat in the same classroom 10 hrs/day for the next two years. We were delighted and pleased to learn about CMDA and their active student chapter at University of Michigan. …It was in the medical school commons that the CMDA Student Chapter met weekly for an hour to pray, read scripture, sing hymns and fellowship.  We were loud and visible. That fellowship never stopped and has followed us the last 44 years through many challenges and hardships. While many steps along the journey have pressed us down but not destroyed us, it was frequently CMDA members who held us up in our suffering.

… We are so honored to stand with CMDA in this work.  We look forward to continuing to fight the good fight and finishing the race and keeping the faith with you. ”

This award reflects both Dr. Harrisons’ legacy as pioneers in the pro-life medical movement and Donna’s decades of faithful leadership in advocacy, research, and public engagement. Her work has consistently underscored not only the sanctity of life, but also the reality that sound medical science supports that truth and must continue to do so in a time when abortion ideology increasingly pressures the integrity of the profession.
