AAPLOG Near You & Other Events

The Center for Bioethics & Human Dignity (CBHD) has found a new institutional home at LeTourneau University, and their 2026 summer conference, Polytechnic Bioethics, will be held on its campus in Longview, TX, June 25-27. Former AAPLOG board member Dr. Cara Buskmiller will be speaking as part of this important gathering on today’s most pressing bioethical issues. 
 
AAPLOG member Dr. John Thorp is hosting a seminar on Restorative Reproductive Medicine at Duke University in Durham, NC on June 28-July 1. The seminar will explore the ethical and medical dimensions of restorative and assisted reproductive approaches, including the history, philosophy, and future potential of RRM. Members are encouraged to apply early with many applicants having full funding for travel and conference covered.  It’s open to current medical students, residents, and other healthcare professionals, as well as professionals engaged with bioethics or healthcare policy.  The deadline to apply is May 31.  Conference flyer here.
 
AAPLOG and AAPLOG Action will be at the SoConCon in Washington, D.C. on July 21-24. CEO Dr. Christina Francis and Director of Advocacy and Policy Rebecca Weaver will be speaking at a breakout session.
 
FYI:  International Volunteer Opportunity:  Safe Passages Mission Trip to Uganda  
July 9 -18, 2026 – Jinja, Uganda
 
Catholic World Mission is seeking medical volunteers, including physicians (OB/GYNs), nurse practitioners, midwives, nurses, and natural family planning (NFP) experts, who feel called to serve through professional expertise and global outreach. AAPLOG Office Hours/Community Connections

New!  Join the Director of Member Engagement Cathy Deeds, and other AAPLOG members for an online monthly community connections/office hours.  In response to your feedback, hear about AAPLOG updates, and ask questions about your membership renewal (was Jan. 15!), the latest research, state chapters, or anything AAPLOG. Give us your feedback, share ideas! The next sessions will be on Friday, June 5 at 9-9:45 am and 3:30-4:15pm CT. (Teams link here) These are informal discussions, stop in anytime during the time frames, or you can call. In future months we will meet on the second Friday.
